EPISODE VII: THE FALCON PREPARES TO FLY AGAIN...

Hmmm, I wonder what this vessel's supposed to be! Image: TMZ.

They call her a piece of junk, when, in actuality, she's a thing of beauty. Yes, the incredible smuggling vessel, the Millennium Falcon, the beloved jewel in Han Solo's smuggling, rebellion and New Republic career is indeed back. No longer in the background flying about as seen in the Prequels and no longer a very immobile couple of matte paintings as seen in the completed version of EPISODE VI, the bruised, battered but indomitable vessel is back in action for all-new STAR WARS sequels, in all her recreated massive prop glory, interior and exterior, at Pinewood Studios. Its great to see her again!

According to my Imperial Spies, these pics were actually taken a few months back, and the prop has now been fully assembled. At least one main grounded action scene has been rumoured to take place in and around it-one of the key reasons for its reconstruction.

Flashback: The original wood-based Falcon under construction in late 1975/early 1976 at Elstree.

The classic X-wing fighters are back, too, though it looks like they've been given a slight re-design in comparison to the original- a tribute to early McQuarrie/Johnston concepts.

UPDATE: 5/6/2014:  J.J. Abrams classily responds to the leaked Falcon pics, with this fun TWITTER image.
