CLASSIC IMAGE: A "LESSON" FROM DOOKU!

Anakin Skywalker may have raw power and skills with a lightsaber blade, but Count Dooku's dedication to the Dark Side proves stronger during their first encounter, as the fully revealed Sith easily defeats the boy, slicing off his lightsaber hand, in a highly charged duelling scene from EPISODE II.

Dark duelling for Anakin and Dooku in the Geonosis hangar.

LUCASFILM and DISNEY seem to be suffering from selected amnesia on the Prequels with regards to the upcoming THE FORCE AWAKENS. Much has recently been touted by J.J. Abrams, John Boyega and company about the new specially created lit lightsaber blades that will see action in the latter half of that film. Well, sorry, this is nothing new- they already experimented with this technique way back in 2000 during Australian filming for Attack of the Clones, with this Dooku/Anakin sequence! Next they'll be saying that the Prequel films had no set construction, location filming or model work, and that it was all achieved via CGI!

Hayden Christensen rehearses with the new lit blades for EPISODE II.

Looking forward to the upcoming US ESPN special on the Lightsabers of the STAR WARS saga, hosted by Mark Hamill, with contributions from Prequel Stunt Coordinator Nick Gillard and others, alongside some great Classic Trilogy rare footage:
