'STAR WARS' AT 40: CAPTURED BY THE DEATH STAR!

At ILM in Van Nuys, Richard Edlund and a colleague make adjustments to the Millennium Falcon model prior to the Dykstraflex camera's filming of the vessel's striking entrance into the Death Star hangar bay. The scene took several takes/camera passes to accomplish successfully.

Behind the scenes footage of the Falcon's entry into the bay, once more handled by Edlund, was also specially shot for the later The Making of Star Wars TV special, aired in 1977.
