'STAR WARS' AT 40: YAVIN IV AWAITS...

Known in the film's original 1977 end credits as a 'satellite artist', the legendary Ralph McQuarrie provided some truly gorgeous matte paintings of intergalactic worlds that have now passed into film history. Here he captured the blue/green beauty of the jungle moon of Yavin IV, the Rebels' hideaway of which the Millennium Falcon swiftly approaches, ready to deliver its eager cargo of R2-D2 and the newly rescued Princess Leia.

The painting as briefly seen in the film.
