BEHIND THE SCENES: EXPLORING BESPIN!


The disruptive problems linked to the fire on the sets of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining horror masterpiece may have had a less than positive knock-on effect to the filming schedule and available soundstage space at Elstree Studios for The Empire Strikes Back, but Norman Reynolds and his set building team nonetheless pulled off some stunning creations to represent the interiors of the Bespin mining colony during April to Summer 1979 filming, like these shots of one of the main elevator/landing platform areas.
