Inside the new Rebel base, its technicians and bearded leader look very cold but efficiently capable as they acclimatise to their difficult but not unlivable environment, alongside two familiar droids, in this terrific conceptual art by Ralph McQuarrie for The Empire Strikes Back, full of detail and colour depth (love the deep blue cold cave walls) and which was one of the first paintings officially released to publicity preview into 1979.
