With The Last Crusade, Indy had reunited and newly bonded with his once missing father to great acclaim and box office results. Back in 2007, the behind the scenes team on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull wanted to continue giving Harrison Ford more opportunities for fun and characterisation as the older Indiana Jones, this time via the introduction of a fiery hothead son, Henry Jones, Jr., as played by then rising star Shia LeBouef, plus the important return of Indy's complex, loving-yet-sparring relationship with old flame Marion Ravenwood - once more played by the ever delightful Karen Allen - that would be much welcomed by the fan base.
