EPISODE IX - LATEST NEWS (FEB 2019)

The magic is back as the team from The Force Awakens are reunited for one last ambitious adventure within the Skywalker family mythos, as the main bulk of London studio filming for EPISODE IX nears completion by March 2019, of which key cast have already finished playing their roles.

EPISODE VIII:THE MYTH BEARERS...

At Pinewood Studios, London, writer/director Rian Johnson, his long-time producing partner Ram Bergman and Keeper of the STAR WARS Franchise in Kathleen Kennedy go through a sequence being filmed for The Last Jedi set on the Resistance cruiser Raddus. Impressed with Johnson's creativity and amiable personality, it wasn't long before Kennedy would offer him the keys to the creation of an all-new trilogy, featuring all-new heroes and villains, coming by 2020/21, beyond the legend originally created by George Lucas.

Will the trio's future endeavours live up to the standard bearer that is the original legacy?

EPISODE VIII: WHEN ICONS GATHER...

Once more echoing that original behind the scenes shot from The Empire Strikes Back's filming from April 1979, our main 'Legacy' heroes played by Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher (plus their super pooches) gather with current keeper of the Lucas flames in Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy, for The Last Jedi, in another great image taken at Pinewood Studios that first appeared in VANITY FAIR earlier this year, taken by the prestigious lenswoman Annie Leibovitz.

EPISODE VIII: HEADING TOWARDS DEC '17!

At Pinewood Studios circa March/April 2016, Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy and EPISODE VIII producer Ram Bergman discuss an upcoming scene set on one of the Resistance control room sets, presumably in one of their space cruisers, what with events continuing straight from EPISODE VII, and our heroes fled into space whilst being pursued by the First Order.

CELEBRATION 2016: 'EPISODE VIII' LATEST

ROGUE ONE deservedly had the limelight at CELEBRATION 2016, but the upcoming, equally anticipated EPISODE VIII had some solid representation, too, primarily from director Rian Johnson, at first nervous to go on stage but soon coming out of his shell in showing his humour and affection for STAR WARS, whilst the hoped for, all-too-brief surprise appearance of John Boyega was a treat: fun, enthused and clearly loving it all!

EPISODE VIII: BACK AT PINEWOOD...

A Jedi and a new droid friend. Mark Hamill and BB-8.

Apart from some fun and deliberately vague imagery posted by Rian Johnson recently (including a mystery cavern with Luke Skywalker's Jedi cloak inside it), things have been (again deliberately) pretty quiet at Camp LUCASFILM as the next sequel nears principal photography completion. So here's a few images we hadn't previously posted from the UK Royal brothers set visit to Pinewood last April, to keep all the expectant EPISODE VIII fans reading this happy, with hopefully a snippet or two more bits of new material to be revealed at CELEBRATION EUROPE next month.

EPISODE VII: NEW HEROES, NEW VILLAINS...

On the run yet into battle: our new young heroes meet the Dark Side and the First Order. It may well be fan poster art and nothing official, but who cares?! I love it! And if anyone knows the artist, please get in touch.

EPISODE VII: DESTINATION - SHANGHAI!

A HAPPY NEW YEAR to all worldwide readers of STAR WARS AFICIONADO!

The world press/premiere tour for THE FORCE AWAKENS is at an end, of which crowd reaction and support has surely been nothing short of spectacular. But its not over yet for Miss Ridley and Mister Boyega: filming for Rian Johnson's EPISODE VIII being a mere few short weeks away!
