CLASSIC INDY: NIGHT-TIME SCARES!

The jungle at night can be a weird and dangerous place, as out of place showgirl and musician Willie Scott soon discovers in a fun comedy sequence for Kate Capshaw and her fellow Indiana Jones stars, before the darkness of Mola Ram emerges, from 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

'INDY V' NEWS - SEP 2022

Back for an all-new quest in Indy V.

A burst of news on the upcoming final live-action adventure for Indiana Jones, as personified by Harrison Ford, but I think we're all kinda disappointed that the new adventure doesn't have an evocative sub-title beyond that of its hero's name. Adding further pangs of annoyance, can anything be more unfair to dedicated Indy fans that only insiders attending the recent Disney Expo event got to see the exiting teaser trailer that would soon be mouth-wateringly described online...?

Ford and Waller-Bridge welcome the teaser trailer at the D23 Expo.

CLASSIC INDY: FILLING IN FOR HARRISON!

A clearly fatigued from long filming hours Kate Capshaw gets some support from director and eventual husband Steven Spielberg, as well as the young and enthused Ke Huy Quan, in this intriguing shot taken within the Thuggee cavern set at Elstree, as the actors film their scenes around a hospital recovering Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

It's great to see Ke Huy Quan back in cinemas for the acclaimed new modern fantasy adventure Everything Everywhere All at Once, opposite the iconic Michelle Yeoh.

CLASSIC INDY: THE FLIGHT FROM CLUB OBI-WAN!

She's burnt two fingers and she's cracked a nail! No, cabaret entertainer and actress Willie Scott, always on the lookout for a great lifestyle, is not used to being threatened, shot at and carried along/hurled out a multi-storey building window, as her unique entrance into the mad, crazy, dangerous world of Indiana Jones begins, in this great image from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Though a controversial character with critics and feminists at the time of original release, especially in contrast to the previous film's strong-willed Marion Ravenwood, Willie Scott has become more appreciated over time, thanks to the witty repartee she/actress Kate Capshaw shared with Harrison Ford as Indy, in dialogue generated by the classic film loving, talented script writing husband/wife duo Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz. Always enthusiastic and a great behind the scenes raconteur, AFICIONADO was sorry to hear of Miss Katz's passing back in 2018.

CLASSIC INDY: ROPE BRIDGE TERROR!

Willie Scott and Short Round are in the biggest fix yet by the conclusion of THE TEMPLE OF DOOM- the latter has tried to convince the former that the rope bridge they need to cross for escape is perfectly safe. Wrong!

'TEMPLE OF DOOM' AT 30: LOCATION DISTRACTIONS...

On location in Sri Lanka, Steven Spielberg tries to get the attention of the always enthusiastic screen newcomer Key Huy Quan, during an off-duty moment from filming for INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM.

If you're in the UK, keep an eye out for upcoming re-worked repeats of classic THE SOUTH BANK SHOW documentaries, especially from the seventies and eighties, which have just started on the SKY ARTS 1 HD channel. A 1984 edition interview with Steven Spielberg will be amongst the line-up, showing on Thursday 31st July, 2014 at 9.30pm. AFICIONADO will have a programme review nearer transmission...

'TEMPLE OF DOOM' AT 30! MINE CAR FRIGHTS!

Its a rough ride ahead for Willie and Short Round, as Indy perilously navigates their mine car through a whole cave load of adrenaline charged action scares, in this great image from INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM.

UK fans: The three classic INDY films will be showing in a special screening at the Prince Charles Cinema in London, this April 18th. Here's more info: Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Sq. London's Best Value Cinema - Events

'TEMPLE OF DOOM' AT 30: TOGETHER AGAIN!

Finally, a chance for some respite for our hero Indiana Jones, partner in adventure Short Round and unwilling traveller, the entertainer Willie Scott, having successfully freed an army of slaves from the Thuggee Cult- a glorious end to the thrill-a-minute antics within The Temple of Doom.

One of the first scenes shot on location in Sri Lanka for the film during 1983.

CLASSIC INDY: JOIN THE ADVENTURE!

The lovely German poster for 1984's epic journey into darkness that was INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM, though the composition tones down any scary elements and instead presents the movie in a more family friendly light, along with Indy's diverse mix of friends and foes.

CLASSIC INDY: "STEP ON IT, SHORTY!"

Escaping Club Obi-Wan, an intense Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and his unwilling new companion Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) watch as young Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) takes to the wheel, through the densely populated streets of Shanghai, during the breathless opening sequence of INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM!
