'INDY V': LATEST NEWS (MID-MAY 2023)

Movie poster art by Tony Stella.

Officially the longest running movie of the series (clocking-in at a whip-cracking 2 hrs 24 mins, no less!), Indy V will soon be debuting at this year's glossy and elitist Cannes Film Festival (out of competition), and we look forward to hearing early reviews, which we're sure will be most positive.

'SOLO': MEET THE SCOUNDRELS!

One set of advance Solo: A Star Wars Story character posters would face some fan controversy during the film's 2018 pre-release marketing campaign, due to the fact that our main band of scoundrels were not shown holding their blaster weapons, a cautious creative decision initiated by Disney, apparently in response to worries about the promotion of guns in family entertainment. Thankfully, this character poster set would go on to appear unaltered within international territories.

Above and below are the original versions of those posters as seen at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2018. It would seem that only the Beckett character was showcased in this campaign without a blaster.

'SOLO': INTRODUCING ALDEN EHRENREICH AS HAN SOLO!

A life less ordinary! Alden Ehrenreich as the new Han Solo!

He spent a lot of his childhood playing with the original KENNER Star Wars toys, now Alden Ehrenreich gets to play one of the franchise's ultimate heroes onscreen, and ride in practical toys made spectacularly real, like the Millennium Falcon, for the all-new Solo: A Star Wars Story, out now in cinemas worldwide. He's still a youngster in the industry, and yet Alden has worked with some of the finest and experienced names in the world of Hollywood directors, from the Coen Brothers, to Warren Beatty, to Francis Ford Coppola, and, in a twist of fate prior linked to the destiny of Harrison Ford, he'd also be 'discovered' by Spielberg and casting director and friend/adviser to Coppola and Lucas: Fred Roos!

First introduced as the new Solo at London's STAR WARS Celebration event in 2016.

Blazing in to battle on Kessel.

Having fun with Emilia Clarke at Cannes- May 2018.

Getting cues from Ron Howard on the Falcon cockpit set.

Filming in Italy with Joonas Suotamo as new buddy Chewbacca.

TOPPS promotional card.

Signed on for two more potential movies in the Lucas saga, the future looks brighter than ever for Alden, who certainly gives his all in this first outing, with talent and well-honed instincts shining through as Han, whilst importantly proving a satisfying successor to an impressed Ford.

Welcome to the Star Wars family, Alden!

CLASSIC IMAGE: 'STAR WARS' AT CANNES - THEN AND NOW!

George Lucas enjoys the company and youthful vitality of his EPISODE III stars Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman (her hair shaved due to shooting for the political/action comic adaptation of V for Vendetta), as the film begins its European premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this day (May 16th) in 2005.

Now, STAR WARS has returned to Cannes, without Lucas sadly, but featuring Ron Howard and the equally fine cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Its showing out of competition at the famous film celebration, and being released worldwide from May 24/25th, 2018.
