'SOLO': LABYRINTH DANGER!

Breaking the speed record in navigating the Kessel Run is one thing, actually getting out of it alive is another, as Han Solo and his motley crew of thieves inside the Millennium Falcon discover in this great art for the limited edition Mondo double vinyl LP release of John Powell's rather excellent score for the still criminally under-appreciated anthology adventure Solo: A Star Wars Story.

'SOLO': BAPTISM OF FIRE!

The race is on! Young Han Solo's piloting skills of the trusty Millennium Falcon are put to the ultimate test escaping Imperial forces and evading the many dangers natural or not that lay within the Kessel Run and its maelstrom protection, in this great image from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Rising Hollywood star Alden Ehrenreich capably took over the reins from the legendary Harrison Ford in portraying a young, often impetuous, yet highly likeable Solo. Discover more about how he approached the role of a lifetime within the daring shaping of this hugely popular origin story, charted via the all-new and lavish book Star Wars Icons - Han Solo, written and compiled by Gina McIntyre, out now from Ilex Press. You'll also discover more about the creative aspects/decisions of the latest film that would be crafted by director Ron Howard, and how the screenplay and character origins for Solo were shaped via the return of acclaimed screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan- the man who knows the rogue smuggler-to-be's personality and quirky charisma more than anybody else, bar creator George Lucas and Ford.

The Kessel Run is famous for its spacial travel/navigation problems and instabilities. but the rumours of creatures actually living inside the gaseous realms of the Maw? Well, 'that's something else', as our heroes in the Millennium Falcon soon discover, encountering this nasty space beastie. Great concept art by Aaron McBride for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

'SOLO': LADY OF THE SPACEWAYS!

There are spaceships, and there are Star Wars spaceships, of which Lando Calrissian's souped up, top-of its-game freighter, the Millennium Falcon, must be one of the fastest and slickest ships out there, as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story. And then came Han Solo and that little trip through the Kessel Maelstrom!

Stunning conceptual art of the Kessel run! Conceptual art by James Clyne.

'SOLO': IMPERIALS AT THE GATE!

Han thinks that the Empire isn't going to worry about that little incident of theft and rebellion that he and his comrades have instigated on Kessel. Wrong! Sure enough, an Imperial Star Destroyer and TIE fighter support are not what our soon-famous smuggler needs right now whilst trying to escape Kessel's legendary and fearsome The Maw, in a spectacular effects sequence, heightened by rousing John Powell/John Williams music, for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Great art for the scene as rendered by Dan Mumford, that ultimately graced the unique subscriber's cover edition of EMPIRE magazine a month or so back.

'SOLO': INTRODUCING THE MILLENNIUM FALCON!

The fastest ship in the galaxy: the Millennium Falcon!

She'll later be called 'garbage' and a 'bucket of bolts', but the Millennium Falcon of Solo: A Star Wars Story is in far better, nay immaculate, shape whilst looked after by its then custodian in gambler and smooth operator Lando Calrissian. Immaculate shape, that is, until she catches the attentions and desire of a certain rising star pilot called Han Solo, who'll literally take the snappy cargo freighter through all kinds of hell and back in the years to come.

The Falcon from above.

ILM concept reference model created by Alex Hutchings.

Stationed at an exotic gambling haven.

'Imperial entanglements!'

Speeding for survival!

Heading to an important destination.
