ILM CLASSIC IMAGE: BEWARE THE GROUND POUNDERS!

The battle to buy time for the Rebel evacuation is over, and now the cause's valiant survivors must retreat from intense enemy fire in this great and very early ILM animatic moment conceived in pre-production for The Empire Strikes Back.

'SOLO': NO TURNING BACK...

SPOILER ALERT!

Trust no one! Words to live by for the former scrum rat Qi'ra, after being separated from her young boyfriend Han Solo on Corellia, to face an ever harsher and punishing life ahead over the next three years, before their eventual, co-incidental reuniting. Ultimately, though, even the charms and admirable strength of Han's reckless personality and his enduring love for Qi'ra can't make or persuade her to abandon the old life she has endured, and erase her notorious past for a new journey that will surely prove just as precarious, if not more so. And especially not now that there's a wide hole in the leadership powerbase of the criminal organisation Crimson Dawn- a hole which she helped see-in with the death of her former employer, the harsh Dryden Vos. And a galactic power base that she can finally seize for herself...

Here's hoping that Emilia Clarke's unique 'femme fatale' of conflicted emotions returns for a future Star Wars film somewhere down the line, perhaps in the darker flavoured Benioff/Weiss film trilogy beginning its planning stages next year.

Qi'ra makes her first appearance in animated form for the new Forces of Destiny short:

NO TIME FOR PROTOCOL! THIRTY YEARS OF 'DROIDS'

If there's one constant in the STAR WARS universe, its the fact that when or wherever they go, our cosmic versions of Laurel and Hardy, C-3PO and R2-D2, will always find trouble, be it opposing renegade droids, fearsome alien warriors, slimy gangsters or encountering chilling bounty hunters, as seen here in this great NELVANA STUDIOS promo art featuring Boba Fett and Sise Fromm, for the hit eighties animated series DROIDS, celebrating its whopping States-side 30th Anniversary today!

As the series has so far not had a full release on official DVD, let's hope someone at DISNEY's paying attention and sees the potential profits...

HOW TO DO A 'STAR WARS' SPACE BATTLE...

A TIE interceptor lets loose its weapons in a terrific animated fan film.

They may be baddies, but that doesn't stop STAR WARS fans from loving the cool ships, heavy weaponry and advanced technology used by the Galactic Empire against our heroes in the Rebel Alliance during the time of Luke Skywalker.

Check out this terrific fan made, manga/anime inspired short film showing the Empire's finest against our Rebel heroes in one helluva epic space battle worthy of the STAR WARS name, put on YouTube a while back by otaking77 and given a special edition upgrade by JPL4185. It's brilliant. Somebody at LUCASFILM or DISNEY give these guys a job and then please proceed with a new animated series like this set during the Classic Trilogy era.
