EPISODE II: IN FOR THE KILL!

Bounty Hunters come in all shapes and sizes from across the galaxy, but Zam Wesell must be one of the most intriguing, as seen in EPISODE II, on a mission to assassinate Senator Padme Amidala on Coruscant, under orders from a mysterious Mandalorian armoured paymaster, and using its special skill-sets to the fullest.

'ATTACK' AT 20: DANGER ON CORUSCANT!

A disguised Padme tends to her dying 'decoy' bodyguard, Corde.

Someone is out to murder Senator Padme Amidala!

Despite all security precautions, secretly returning to Coruscant to vote on a critical Republic bill linked to the creation of the controversial Army of the Republic, Padme is soon in the crosshairs of the clever Bounty Hunter Zam Wesell, of which two trusted Jedi, past known to the Senator (the noble Obi-Wan Kenobi and his love-smitten-for-Padme Padawan Learner, the youthfully edgy Anakin Skywalker) are soon in pursuit of both Wesell and the so-far elusive paymaster who will ultimately kill the shape-changing alien before she can talk to her captors.

The mystery continues, and deepens...

The 'decoy' Padme makes her way off the Naboo vessel...

... but is soon slain by a mystery enemy!

The fiery assassination attempt on the Coruscant landing pad.

Deadly poisonous Kouhun creatures are used in a soon-stopped second murder attempt.

As Obi-Wan crashes onto a remote droid, Dorme (Rose Byrne) tends to Padme.

Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi follows the trail to the bounty hunter above Coruscant.

The mysterious Zam Wesell (Leanna Walsman) takes aim in this publicity image.

A new target for Zam: Obi-Wan Kenobi!

Rescued by a timely arrived Anakin, as the speeder chase begins..

Power couplings prove a danger!

Then Anakin goes spectacularly solo to bring Wesell's speeder down!

Obi-Wan finally apprehends the shape-changer in a local sports bar.

Taken out for questioning in a side alley.

The shape-changer is killed before revealing the person who hired her.

CLASSIC ART: OF DUTY AND LOVE!

Her return to Coruscant to vote on the critical issue of the creation of a Grand Army is just the start of a galaxy-spanning adventure of love, intrigue and action for Senator Padme Amidala and her young Jedi protector in Anakin Skywalker, as the epic scale and doomed romance of the pair during the events of EPISODE II is beautifully rendered by Tsuneo Sanda.

CLASSIC ART: UNDERWORLD DWELLERS!

Nothing can be more representative so far in showcasing the shades of grey realms prevalent within the original six-film STAR WARS saga (and its animated spin-offs) created by George Lucas than the diverse range of formidable and iconic bounty hunters that have pursed their prey, and their payments, across the galaxy-personified at the top of the rotting tree by the iconic and seemingly invincible Boba Fett, as seen in this great limited edition ACME ARCHIVES/Sideshow Collectibles art print from a few years back.

The recent addition of talented Game of Thrones creative geniuses and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to the STAR WARS universe for another set of all-new films, beyond those being developed by Rian Johnson, is a further bold and shrewd instinctual move from Kathleen Kennedy. Their love of dark side, shades of grey, morally bankrupt heroes and villains, as seen in their super translation of the George R. R. Martin books for HBO, makes them perfect custodians of what is rumoured to be an updated and even bigger version of what was once George Lucas's original TV plan for an 'Underworld'/opposite side of the fence view of the saga. Indeed, it had long been unconfirmed industry gossip that Benioff and Weiss (separately or together) were two of the original US line-up of writers (that also officially included modern GALACTICA scribe Ronald D. Moore) to have worked on that aborted series' completed, hugely ambitious scripts, to have been produced by Lucas with Rick McCallum. If that is indeed the case, the duo's journey (or return journey) to the Lucasfilm fold is more noteworthy than ever...

Five reasons why the duo are perfect for the new STAR WARS era:

And no sooner were they officially aboard then the duo were sadly departed:
