'ROGUE ONE' AT 10: TOGETHER FOR SCARIF!

The time is now for the bold and heroic figures of Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor, as they and a small, dedicated force of Rebel soldiers initiate a covert mission to Scarif and retrieve, somehow, whatever the costs, the vitally needed plans of the Death Star super weapon. They all know that this is a mission so unique, so dangerous, so unpredictable in its against the odds reckoning, that, even if they do succeed, they might never make it back alive to the seemingly all-too-weak Alliance from which they have been scorned.

A dramatic and memorable moment from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

ROGUE ONE: THE TENSION RISING...

Now arrived into Jedha's primary city, the huge and menacing presence of the Empire, as well as its brutal occupational skillset, is more keenly felt than ever by a wary Jyn Erso and her escort Cassian Andor, in a tension-building scene from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

As the new season of Andor approaches in 2024, could Jyn Erso potentially make a cameo appearance in the series timeline?

ROGUE ONE: WHEN LONDON BECAME SCARIF!

No sign of any train at this site!

A busy hub for Docklands commuters, the Canary Wharf London Underground station's modern, high-tech environs would also make for an excellent addition to the Star Wars universe in its second 'fantasy life' as an Imperial communications base on the jungle world of Scarif. A dream come true location to film in (under swift top secret conditions) for director Gareth Edwards back in 2015, for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story....

In between takes for Alan Tudyk, Felicity Jones and Diego Luna, during the filming of the ultimately deleted scene escape from the base.

A happy Gareth Edwards awaits the next phase of quick filming on site, alongside Alan Tudyk.

Rogue One: How Star Wars Filmed in Public Without Anyone Noticing

I see that Mister Edwards has even managed to sneak in some more Canary Wharf filming with his all-new upcoming sci-fi/action epic from Fox, The Creator, which looks like an exciting blockbuster this September, 2023.

'ANDOR': THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS!

His ordered life as a construction supervisor on the Imperial prison facility of Narkina 5 now over with the slaughter of inmates now fully revealed, of which he too could be one of the next victims of overlord injustice, Kino Loy's fiery, committed resistance shines through as he and Cassian Andor lead the ultimate jail break. A great image from One Way Out, a superb episode of heightened drama from Star Wars - Andor's first acclaimed season, of which the upcoming Season Two looks set to continue the quality storytelling some time during 2025.

GENERATION REBELLION! THE LATEST 'STAR WARS - ANDOR' TRAILER IS HERE!

Its launch may now have been delayed until September 21st, but the striking and exciting new trailer for the galaxy-spanning spy/action thriller Andor, coming exclusively to Disney+ with a three episode release debut, makes it worth the wait, especially with the return of Forrest Whitaker as renegade Rebel leader Saw Gerrera, and more on the important role that Stellan Skaarsgard will be playing in the show's first season, mixing senatorial duties with fighting the Empire...

REBELLION AND EMPIRE - 'ANDOR' WILL SOON BE HERE...

The new teaser poster revealed at the recent Celebration event.

With what looks set to be the most ambitious and biggest scale collation of interplanetary drama, action and character arc weaving ever attempted (so far) for a Star Wars TV series (and with a second season already planned), creator/writer Tony Gilroy and star Diego Luna's upcoming Andor series, leading up to the Rebel hero's sacrificial bravery in Rogue One- A Star Wars Story, looks intriguing, as things gear up for its August 31st, 2022 airdate, exclusively on Disney+.

ROGUE ONE: FINDING 'STARDUST'!

Amidst the labyrinth data vaults of the Imperial facility of Scarif, Rebel spies Captain Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso finally discover and begin to retrieve the top secret Death Star schematics, specially 'codenamed' by Jyn's late adoring father, Galen, in another terrific moment from the superb Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

COMING 2022: 'STAR WARS: ANDOR'

Before his heroic demise at the Battle of Scarif, we knew he'd been fighting the tyranny of the Empire at an early age, and that he'd been a spy, saboteur and recruiter for the Rebel Alliance over many years. But there's still much, much more to discover about Diego Luna's fascinating and subtly dark-edged hero Captain Cassian Andor beyond what we originally saw in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as the all-new limited series Star Wars: Andor, from Tony Gilroy, finally begins shooting in London, for exclusive debut on Disney XD in 2022.

THE PATH OF TWO! 'THE MANDALORIAN' RETURNS...

The epic television journey continues. Image: Lucasfilm/Disney+.

The enigma and cool physicality of the race via its showcased star would have been enough to win audiences over, but the additional surprise introduction of 'Baby Yoda' to the mix added critical acclaim, creative inspiration and pop culture-making freshness to the incredible success enjoyed by The Mandalorian during its premiere season on Disney+. Now, creatives Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau looks set to build on what they've prior achieved with the upcoming Season Two debuting next month, with lots of surprises and special appearance to come within their storytelling, set in that troubled era post the galaxy-changing events of Return of the Jedi...

ROGUE ONE: IN A TIME TOWARDS 'HOPE'!

Art by Julian Totino Todesco.

The Rebel Alliance needs the best and most dedicated front line operatives and soldiers they can get to fight back under the radar against the Imperial war machine. Good job then that they have the talented and die-hard veteran Captain Cassian Andor on their side, along with the re-programmed droid compatriot K-2SO at his (sometimes unwilling) side.

The recent news that Diego Luna will be reprising the fascinating and emotionally complex character of Andor for a new live-action series for Disney couldn't be a better tie-in with the film's UK release second anniversary today. Let's also hope that Alan Tudyk will also return for vocal duties as the equally successful K-2!

ROGUE ONE: LONDON CALLING...

Having worked at Docklands early in his visual effects career, filmmaker Gareth Edwards always told himself that one day he would film a sci-fi film at the futuristic environs of London's prestigious and very futuristic Canary Wharf Tube Station. Years later, that dream, one of many, became a reality for him when the site became part of the interior Imperial base settings on Scarif for Rogue One, as seen in the above now iconic behind the scenes image of Stormtrooper costumed extras, taken from 2015.

ROGUE ONE: FIGHTING DIRTY!

Right from the film's earliest promotion online and at one of the Star Wars Celebration events back in 2015, it was clear that Rogue One - A Star Wars Story was going to be a tough and gritty action-adventure lead-in to the original 1977 movie that started it all. And, from this early cast publicity shoot (by LUCASFILM UK's in-house Chief Photographer, Brit talent Jonathan Olley) taken at the filming location of Cardington Hangar, London, our main heroes (led by Felicity Jones ultimately noble Jyn Erso), minus the being kept under wraps K-2SO, were also going to look a lot grubbier from their resultant conflicts!

This image from the shoot would be held back until the film's release.

Intriguingly, no solo image of the character of Bodhi Rook, as played by the inimitable Riz Ahmed, seems to have been released from that early posed location shoot taken by Olley. Interestingly, the character of Bodhi Rook had a different name, character personality, background (including a family) and motivations leading up to the start of filming on Gareth Edward's vision of Rogue One. Things later changed considerably - the character becoming the newly christened 'Bodhi Rook' during the film's reshoots phase, of which Ahmed's role was further expanded and integrated within the plot (most notably linked to Jedha). The closest we can find image-wise to that original look for Ahmed's early character interpretation are these shots below (photographer/s unknown).
