CLASSIC ART: HIS SECRET OBLIGATION...

Art by Travis Charest for Star Wars Legacy #16. Dark Horse Comics.

The respected Jedi Master who survived the brutality of the galaxy-wide Order 66 wiping out his friends, teachers and 'family'. The Jedi who fought, and for a short time believed killed, the madness of his former Padawan turned dark side acolyte, Anakin Skywalker. The Jedi who volunteered to spend the rest of his life in self-exile, in noble duty to protect the true 'New Hope' to the Galaxy in Anakin's newborn offspring, Luke Skywalker, on a far-out and hostile desert world whose clime and inhabitants would prove challenging to adapt to, during a critical history-making time he must deliberately step back from- a Republic he once served now a tyrannical Empire with his long absence.

The life story of the iconic Obi-Wan Kenobi continues next year, as Ewan McGregor and Lucasfilm/Disney reveal what happened with the beloved character in those wilderness years/ chapters of his residing on Tatooine, of which some important questions will be tantalizingly answered...

CLASSIC ART: DEEP SPACE DROIDS!

Our lovable heroes Artoo and Threepio find themselves spacebound on the cover of the 1996, one-off KENNER TOYS/DARK HORSE US comic adventure The Constancia Affair, a reprint of a classic Russ Manning STAR WARS comic strip from 1978, for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate.

Synopsis: The Constancia Affair - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki

A similar type of visual image of the droids could later be seen in THE CLONE WARS animated series episode Nomad Droids.

CLASSIC ART: WOOKIEE GENESIS

Before our loveable Wookiee hero Chewbacca became the cuddly and iconic star warrior we know today, he went through quite an evolutionary design stage in early 1975, as these intriguing, now classic Ralph McQuarrie designs, reveal...

"THE CLONE WARS" COMING SOON: QUINLAN VOS

Created by writer John Ostrander and artist Jan Duursema, Jedi Master Quinlan Vos, the EPISODE I inspired Expanded Universe CLONE WARS comic favourite (later mentioned by name in EPISODE III by Obi-Wan Kenobi, though his on screen death during ORDER 66 was animaticed but never filmed (it fortunately exists in vosual form in the DARK HORSE 2005 comic adaptation)), is a Jedi who walks a dangerous path between the light and dark sides of the Force in his missions, and was once partnered to Aayla Secrura (who mentions him, but not by name, in THE CLONE WARS first season episode JEDI CRASH), and he'll soon be making his much anticipated first animated appearance in the hit show (presumably this third season- as they're using him on series promotional material currently (as seen in the above image). Intriguingly, Vos was to have appeared in the first season episode BOMBAD JEDI, alongside Jar Jar Binks, but he was dropped as the production team didn't have the budget to create additional new characters in the shows opening year). I think we can also assume that wherever Vos is in this new tale, Secura will be involved, too (who knows, perhaps she even gets a solo episode linked to his!).

More news on Vos and his episode (could it be linked to his Dathomir/ Witch Sisters upcoming plotline?) as and when we get it...

UPDATE - 1/11/10. Vos will be seen in Episode Nine of SEASON THREE - THE HUNT FOR ZIRO - alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi.
