CLASSIC INDY: "OH, RATS..."

First there were snakes, then there were bugs, so it made for rats to be showcase creepies with the third film of the original Indiana Jones saga, as Indy and Dr. Elsa Schneider discover a horde whilst investigating the area of the Venice sewers leading to the second marker of the Holy Grail, in another memorable if squirm-inducing scene from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

CLASSIC INDY: THE PATH TO FORTUNE AND IMMORTALITY

The path to the Holy Grail- its mysteries and power- via the once hidden Canyon of the Crescent Moon is finally in the evil sights of businessman Walter Donovan, watched by a concerned Elsa Schneider, in this moment filmed in Jordan for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

CLASSIC INDY: ELSA'S QUEST!

Sean Connery's presence may have taken the second lead status away from the next female star of the original Indy saga, but relative screen newcomer actress/model Alison Doody's role as the beautiful but traitorous Elsa Schneider was nonetheless intriguing and different to what had been prior seen with heroines Marion Ravenwood and Willie Scott.

Working with the Nazis to discover the Holy Grail, battle proves a messy, bloody business for Elsa, when her cause leads her to a second encounter with the leader of the Cruciform Sword sworn to protect the ancient relic, soon callously murdered in front of her eyes by Walter Donovan - an ultimately deleted moment from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

CLASSIC INDY: BEING "THE NEXT MAN"!

The strained but loving father and son relationship between "The Jones Boys" certainly helped to ensure the worldwide success of INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE with audiences and at the box office, especially because of all the great humour it generated from both the script and Harrison Ford and Sean Connery's sometimes improvised performances. This infamous and funny scene, of the duo captured by the Nazis at Brunwald Castle, is one particular highlight.

CLASSIC INDY: HOSTAGE SHADOWS...

At Castle Grunwald in Austria, the shadow of Indy looms large near the captured form of Dr Elsa Schneider, a prisoner- or is she?- of the vicious German thug, Vogel, in an important moment from INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

CLASSIC INDY: "SHE TALKS IN HER SLEEP..."

The inimitable presence of Sean Connery as Henry Jones Senior may have been the main travelling companion to Indiana Jones in THE LAST CRUSADE, but that didn't stop then relative film newcomer, Irish actress and beauty Alison Doody, having a strong part as Dr. Elsa Schneider, as seen in this rare B/W image from the film, where her true nature as a Nazi spy is revealed.

UK Indy Fans can check out Miss Doody on the big screen once again with the special showing of the entire classic trilogy at London's acclaimed Prince Charles cinema on Sunday August 26th. More details here: Screening
