'THE FORCE AWAKENS' AT 10: DROID LOVE!

It was love at first sight for Daisy Ridley and the charming droid BB-8 during location filming in Abu Dhabi in 2014 for The Force Awakens. And audiences were soon smitten with the pair of them onscreen - the lost droid with secret info vitally needed by the Resistance, and Rey, the lost young girl carving out a meagre existence, dreaming of a life beyond, on the far away junk world of Jakku...

CLASSIC ART: WELCOME TO STARKILLER BASE!

It's an arrival on the harsh environment locale of the enemy Starkiller Base world that Han Solo and his Resistance comrades will never forget, as they depart the crash-landed Millennium Falcon in search of a safe and hopefully unnoticed entrance to the immense facility so as to rescue the recently captured Rey.

THE CLONE WARS: HOSTAGE CRISIS!

War and chaos have come to the Banking Clan world of Scipio, as former senator Rush Clovis finds his life and career in tatters from the manipulations of Count Dooku, and now desperately holds his former lover Padme Amidala hostage against the newly arrived Anakin Skywalker, in this memorable and dramatic scene from the finale of the Season Six episode: Crisis of the Heart.

EPISODE VII: AN AIDE TO THE RESISTANCE!

The full terror of the First Order is revealed. 

Sent to the heart of the New Republic to plead the Resistance's cause in taking firm and official action against the now confirmed threat of the First Order, the life of General Leia Organa's cause-inspired aide, Korr Sella, is cut tragically short as the enemy Starkiller Base unleashes its Hyperspace travelling crimson death blasts against the planet and system.

An attractive and youthful member of the cast and onscreen characters, it's a shame that rising British star Maisie Richardson-Sellers' scenes in EPISODE VII, including a prior conversation on D'Qar with General Leia Organa, ultimately had to be cut for time and pace reasons, with only her death scene making it to the finished movie.

THE CLONE WARS: THE FALLEN MIGHTY...

Yet again, another of the Republic's potentially great figures fall afoul of power and ambition, used by the evil Count Dooku to bring even more fragility to the galaxy: senator Rush Clovis, seen here on the brink of political ruin and destroyed credibility. Worse, cowardly threatening Padme Amidala's life in front of a very angry Anakin Skywalker. Wrong move, Clovis, in this scene from The Clone Wars Season Six episode, Crisis at the Heart.

EPISODE VII: CREATING REY!

Plagued with nerves at the start of her first scenes filming at Abu Dhabi, young star-to-be Daisy Ridley nonetheless went on to give a superb performance as the loner Rey on the desert world of Jakku, her character and acting skills blossoming under the strong directing talents and instincts of a nurturing J.J. Abrams, in this fine behind the scenes moment from The Force Awakens.

EPISODE VII: WE'RE 'TEAM CHEWIE'!

The late Peter Mayhew's return to the role of Chewbacca for a key EPISODE VII scene set in the Millennium Falcon was a welcome treat to have. In addition, the future of this special wookiee character would soon be in safe paws via his worthy successor in enthusiastic and dedicated actor/performer Joonas Suotamo, continuing Mayhew's fine legacy across four films (so far...)

CLASSIC ART: DESCENT TO THE STARKILLER!

Another great piece of James Clyne concept/production art for The Force Awakens, as Resistance X-wings descend to attack Starkiller Base and its ascending TIE fighters. It's also a nice visual reference to A New Hope's Special Edition, with the new shot of the Rebel fighters descending into the Death Star.

'SOLO': THAT VERY FAMILIAR IMPERIAL!

It was a lifetime dream for him to be able to co-write an entry in a film series that has made such a cultural impact worldwide. Better yet to be lucky enough to have a sweet little cameo in that film, too. And, if you're lucky enough to become a villain, wear a very cool uniform! Jon Kasdan's background scene as part of Han's court martial in Solo: A Star Wars Story may not have made the finished film but it's there to see and enjoy regardless via the Special Features of Blu-ray.

On set with fellow officer (played by second unit director Toby Hefferman), both of whom were social media teased by director Ron Howard as possibly being the comedic comic book characters of Tag and Bink.

Newly arrived on the lost and mythic world of the original Jedi on Ahch-To, the bold yet nervous Rey prepares to ascend the main island's nearby monumental steps, so as to find the one man capable of helping her training and the Resistance fight back against the First Order- the self-exiled legend Luke Skywalker himself, in this great concept art by veteran Star Wars Prequel talent Ryan Church for The Force Awakens.

EPISODE VII: TO RETRIEVE THE FALLEN!

On the superbly rendered Starkiller Base snow forest set at Pinewood Studios, J.J. Abrams consults with Domhnall Gleeson and an unhelmeted extras for the shooting of an ultimately deleted scene from The Force Awakens, where Hux and his First Order Trooper escort recover the injured Kylo Ren, upon prior instruction from Supreme Leader Snoke.

Though not in the completed film, the scene can be found in Alan Dean Foster's novel adaptation of VII.

EPISODE VII: HANGAR WAR!

Never expecting to stage a mini war in one of their own docking bays, First Order Stormtroopers do their best to stop a rogue TIE fighter escaping their grasp. A very cool, non-CGI added shot from footage filmed at Pinewood Studios for The Force Awakens in Summer 2014.

EPISODE VII: THE NEW BASE...

There's nothing that sums up a STAR WARS film more evocatively than seeing X-wing fighters and the Millennium Falcon together at a Rebel/Resistance base, and this great art for The Force Awakens, from conceptual spark Matt Allsopp (firmly capturing the spirit of Ralph McQuarrie), intriguingly puts them on a mysterious planet (later to become D'Qar) where the vegetation has taken a firm hold of the local ancient architecture- an idea that subtly made its way into the finished film.
