They'd been a vital part/motif of Han Solo's ownership of the Millennium Falcon since the early days - a nice bit of fun set detailing for the original Star Wars provided by Brit talent Roger Christian, back in Spring/Summer 1976. (We'll even see a version of them in his speeder car during the upcoming origin events of Solo- A Star Wars Story). Now, as The Last Jedi sees Luke Skywalker take down the infamous hanging dice from the cockpit ceiling (previously reattached anew by Solo during his reunion with the craft during the events of The Force Awakens), they'll go on to become and solidify an altogether different symbolism by VIII's end - of continued hope and resistance against the darkness of Kylo Ren...
