CLASSIC INDY: 'THAT SHOULD DO IT!'

The physicality of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones has added so much to the believablity and enduring popularity of the character over the years. But what to do about his always losing his famous hat during filming? Well, Ford worked out an intriguing, not to mention hilarious, solution during the making of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade's sojourn in Spain during 1988. Staple gun at the ready!

CLASSIC ART: THE FORCE AS THEIR ALLY!

It was the scene for EPISODE VIII that we were all hoping for but sadly proved not to be: the no longer exiled Luke Skywalker joining forces with the light side powerful Rey against the evil of Supreme Leader Snoke and the First Order. It was a storytelling direction that clearly didn't interest VIII's bold writer/director Rian Johnson, instead taking the Jedi and Jedi-to-be's journey into an altogether more complex, darker, different direction. But who knows, maybe the more feel good action-packed extravaganza/Skywalker family wrap-up of the upcoming EPISODE IX may redress the balance a bit.

Worst case scenario, perhaps in the future MARVEL COMICS could do one of those great alternate SW universe stories, like the Infinities trilogy done with Dark Horse, all of which were excellent and thought-provoking.

ROGUE ONE: TROPICAL SEARCH PROCEDURES!

No, they're not a new kind of surfer, they're Imperial Stormtroopers on beach patrol of the island area containing their communications centre, in another great image linked of an ultimately deleted scene from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story . It nonetheless proved perfect for the film's building publicity campaign in 2016.

As a creepy mural of a centuries old Sith conflict hangs unnoticed in the Supreme Chancellor's office on Coruscant all this time, hero Anakin Skywalker's confused and conflicted loyalties to the Jedi Order intensify, in this scene of ominous dread from EPISODE III.

THE CLONE WARS: TO FIGHT A SITH!

Now in his famous armour, and with a few of his own personal combat tricks and weapons up his sleeves (and wrists), the young Boba Fett and a cadre of hard-bitten bounty hunters (including fan favourites Bossk and Embo) fight against Count Dooku in an intriguing unmade episode of The Clone Wars that we hope will make its way to completeness via the show's upcoming final season on the Disney+ channel later this year, properly rounding out the bounty hunter-to-be's arc.

ILM CLASSIC IMAGE: FILMING 'REAL' PEOPLE!

At the main ILM studio stage in early Summer 1982, many vital live action shots filmed against Blu-screen were handled involving Return of the Jedi's principal cast, as seen here with Hamill, Ford and Mayhew, along with a Weequay and Barada guards, filming necessary close-ups aboard one of Jabba's skiffs sailing to the Great Pit of Carkoon. In the final cut, the direction of the scene was flipped for aesthetic/continuity reasons to match Leia's looking towards them from inside the Sail Barge. The Weequay soon turns around to halt their conversation, but this is only seen in the long shot moment of the finished movie.

... but into an even greater fire, as father and son Jones's find themselves in a perilous, environmentally challenging new predicament inside the Nazi-run castle at Austria, in this classic image from the action comedy Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, celebrating its evergreen Thirtieth Anniversary this year. BEHIND THE SCENES: AN EPIC IN THE RAW!

The infamous raw screening of Star Wars to George Lucas's filmmaking chums.

Think that the original rough cut of Star Wars had made many of the FOX suits in Hollywood nervous? Well, so too were many of George Lucas's friends, who really didn't know what to make of the film (including one of its editors, Paul Hirsch, who later admitted he originally found it convoluted and difficult to follow), what with so many 'scene missing' moments, stock music overlays, and undubbed voicing rawness inherent within it, by the time they watched it with its writer/director at his Parkway home in February 1977. Brian DePalma was the most critical opponent to the film, allegedly, much to the apparent dismay and concern of Marcia Lucas (who allegedly cried at its poor reaction from George's friends), though the late Gloria Katz, co-writer of American Graffiti, would recall Steven Spielberg's singular enthusiasm, telling the assemblage he thought the film was gonna make a hundred million dollars. Privately, Spielberg bet with Lucas that Star Wars would make 50-60 million dollars, at least.

'I think it's gonna make a hundred million dollars!' Only Spielberg was truly savvy to recognise the film's hidden runaway potential.
