With the return of Threepio in a larger role for EPISODE II, Anthony Daniels, wanting to keep the droid's unique character/body language continuity, asked to manipulate the last seen wiry puppet form of the droid himself during filming- a challenging and no doubt heavy job that later came to naught when Lucas, during heavy post-production of the film's second half, instead decided to re-film Daniels droid's scenes with the actor back in full droid platings...
