It's fair to say that the Tauntaun creatures of the ice planet of Hoth were an instant success with worldwide STAR WARS fans from 1979 onwards, and they were a hugely important part of the early marketing campaign for the premiere sequel adventure, too- who can forget the very first B/W publicity image for the film of Luke atop one of the cute and versatile beast creatures, shot on location in Norway using a life size version of the creature and a mock up for close-ups that would be crew operated, both concocted in London by Stuart Freeborn and his team, as seen in this great behind the scenes shot.
