The Rebel evacuation process continues as Princess Leia, with Major Derlin, addresses the fighter pilots (including Wedge Antilles, Zev Senesca and 'Hobbie') on the plans ahead- those pilots who will be escorting the departing transports and those in the Snowspeeder squadron that will be providing cover fire against attacking ground forces during the final stages of departure.

Despite the confident ease she showed on screen addressing the male rebel pilots in the hangar bay, Carrie Fisher herself was less than confident and thoroughly nervous about playing the scene, alongside John Ratzenberger as Major Derlin and others, of which things didn't get off to a good start when, pre-rehearsal and watched by quite a large crowd (including Anthony Daniels), she almost walked head-on into one of the long metal laser bars of the prop X-wing fighter. Eventually the scene was completed and Fisher's nerves soothed as the filming day went on, carefully coached by Irvin Kershner.
