STAR WARS AT 35: HANGAR BAY ARRIVAL
Having escaped the Death Star, our heroes, with the rescued Princess Leia, arrive on the jungle world of Yavin IV and enter the hangar bay deep within one of the once deserted Massassi Temple ruins, in this great image which shows the visual design skills of Ralph McQuarrie, Production Designer John Barry and ILM.
This image is of special note as it shows a partial deleted scene, with the separate second transport containing Chewbacca and the droids arriving. In the finished film, we only see the transport with Luke, Han and Leia, then cut to Artoo already being offloaded.
Below is Script Supervisor Ann Skinner's continuity Polaroid for the scene, which was presented at a BFI STAR WARS behind the scenes gallery in late 2014.
With thanks to Ann Skinner and the BFI.
