The art and skill of creating believable and awe-inspiring matte paintings really came into their own with the Classic Trilogy, especially for The Empire Strikes Back and this gorgeous image of the main entrance leading to Bespin's Platform 327, where our Falcon landed heroes wait for Lando Calrissian. It's a shot that also reveals some more of the enchanting cloud city's overall landscape. On screen in 1980, I thought the main door in the wide shot was real- a genuine tribute to their dedicated work.
