AN 'EMPIRE' AT 40: FILMING IN THE ASTEROID 'CAVE'

In scenes filmed on warm Summer days at Elstree, drapes and plastic bag sheeting, ultimately unseen on screen due to the mist generated on set, would comprise the Asteroid Field 'cave' set around the fully built Millennium Falcon prop. ingredients that made this the cheapest environment to create for The Empire Strikes Back.

A selection of Ford and Fisher behind the scenes shots on the set.

Harrison Ford enjoys a tea break as Kershner inspects the set and set dressings around them.

Awesome pictures! I love seeing all the behind the scenes stuff for the movies. One of my favourites would be the footage of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew and Sir Alec Guinness laughing around on the set of the Millennium Falcon in the first movie.
